Star Trek - predicting the future since 1966

Science fiction has a long history of predicting the future.  Some of science fiction's earliest predictions have been Jules Verne's prediction of submarines (from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) and Arthur C. Clarke's prediction of space tourism (from 2001: A Space Odyssey).  Star Trek seems to have an even better success rate when prognosticating the future.  Here's look at all the technology that Star Trek predicted that actually came true.

News: Star Trek Vulcan Ale to hit shelves soon

Trekkies rejoice! A new beer is in town - Vulcan Ale - "a logical choice for a palate pleasing libation.'  Following the large success of the latest Star Trek franchise, Vulcan Ale is now being brewed and manufactured in Canada.  Hopefully, we'll see this ale trickle down to other parts of North America as well. Vulcan Ale will be the first in a line of Star Trek themed beers to be distributed.  Other beers reported to be brewed are Romulan Ale and a Klignon beer.

Great new for Star Trek fans!  According to many online resources, Star Trek Into Darkness will now  be released a day early on Thursday, May 16.

This was totally unexpected.  I felt just as surprised when I watched Christopher Walken dance in Fatboy Slim's video "Weapon of Choice."  Watch and be awed by the awesomeness that is the legendary Leonard Nimoy in Bruno Mars' latest music video.... and watch him smoke a doobie too.
